Fårup Sommerland in Blokhus, Denmark, turns 40. The versatile leisure and water park is one of the most important tourist hotspots in West Jutland and receives around 600,000 visitors a year. Opened in 1975 under the direction of Anders Kragelund, the facility grew over time to become one of the largest Danish amusement parks. With its well-known large roller coasters such as “Lynet”, “Flagermusen”, “Mine Expressen”, “Falken” and the “Orkanen” opened in 2013, it is a popular excursion and holiday destination for the whole family. Around 20 percent of the guests come from abroad, mainly from Norway, Sweden and Germany.
